THE ETERNAL SECURITY
OF
THE BORN AGAIN BELIEVER

A CHANGE OF STANDING BEFORE GOD FROM HIS ENEMY TO HIS CHILD:

God deals differently with His enemies than with His born again sons and daughters. He chasteners His children to correct them (Hebrews 11:5-10), but He punishes his enemies according to their evil deeds (Revelation 20:11-15).

"He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:11-13)   "Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures." (James 1:18)   "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. "For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." (1 Peter 1:23-25)

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have PEACE with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ... Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." (Romans 5:1, 9-10)

ETERNALLY SECURE BECAUSE OF CHRIST'S INTERSECTION FOR US:

"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the UTTERMOST that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." (Hebrews 7:25)

"Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." (Romans 8:34)

OUR LIVES ARE HID WITH CHRIST IN GOD:

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER PERISH, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." (John 10:27-29)

"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory." (Colossians 3:2-4)

ELECT ACCORDING TO THE FOREKNOWLEDGE; PREDESTINE TO BE LIKE JESUS:

"... God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the Truth." (2 Thessalonians 2:13)

"Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ ..." (1 Peter 1:2)

"For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:29-31)

PRESENT TENSE EVERLASTING LIFE:

"He that believeth on the Son HATH everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." (John 3:36)

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that HATH the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." (1 John 5:11-12)

PRESERVED BLAMELESS IN JESUS CHRIST:

The Apostle Judas, the brother of James, writes of "... them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ ..." (Jude 1).   Likewise the Apostle Paul wrote these words about the preservation of the believer:

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it." (1 Thess 5:23-24)
